Within railway vehicle design, the body structure is the most important part, involving greatest responsibility. In close collaboration with the body builder, our engineering team carries out the complete design of the railcar body using modern CAD-CAE tools as well as preparing all of the technical documentation required for its implementation.
In line with our commitment to continuous improvement in the rail sector and with the aim of providing a first-rate service, Metrica has obtained UNE-EN 15085 level CL4 certification for the welding railway vehicles and components. This certification is a European standard which guarantees that our engineers are qualified to design railway structures and have the experience and technical know-how required in welding and its applications. With this certification Metrica offers its customers an additional guarantee of quality and expertise for the development of their railway projects.
Likewise, Metrica carries out all the necessary calculations using the finite element method, guaranteeing compliance with different safety standards, including the UNE-EN 12663-1 - Structural Requirements of Railway Vehicle Bodies standard. Metrica’s range of work covers all the parts that form the body structure, including the frame, sides, roofs, body ends, body bolsters, brackets and reinforcements, both in steel and aluminium.
Metrica carries out structure projects for all types of railway vehicles: trams, light rail, metro, suburban, regional and long-distance trains and cable cars.
